Whimsy

Yes, it's been a while since my last blog entry. We are up and running again and I wanted to share one of my favorite illustrators, Ms. Laura Stoddarrt. Her style represents elegance and whimsy. Who wouldn't want to dine under an arboretum of trees?

During a recent trip to the Mart, I found myself in the Jane Churchill showroom. Not only do they have impeccable fabrics and wall coverings, their customer service is top-notch.

One of my most recent finds, curtsey of facebook. Is this wonderful settee? Not only is it eco-friendly, but trend correct. Perfect sizing. Also available in the UK.

Our friends shared this video of one of my favorite photographers Matt Albiani. It caught my attention for utilizing the space allotted in a New York apartment. Functional, yet not too serious. Click on Matt's name for the full video tour of his apartment.

And to wrap things up, Laura Stoddart was born in Liverpool in 1971. She studies illustration at Brighton University and the Royal College of Art. She began her career illustrating the Royal Mail Christmas stamps in 1996; the youngest professional artist to have received this commission. She now lives and works in West Somerest, England.

Summer Living

Things I have been meaning to post: Meg Ryan's home located in Martha's Vineyard as featured in Elle Decor. An absolutely beautiful, functional coastal home.

The kitchen is a great mix of antique and new. Comfort and Utility. Whitewash is welcoming in any water side retreat. In planning our celebration this Forth of July weekend, I find myself referring back to these photographs again and again. Great job Meg!

Speaking of mixing old with the new. Our Friends at Beacon Hill in Chicago recently sent me this photograph. Our clients are very intrigued by the crystal cocktail table mixed with traditional upholstery. All of this talk lead to conversations about mixing acrylic furniture with farm tables. How could you go wrong?

Finally, one of our favorite seasonal reads in my house. Carloyne Roehm's Summer Notebook. A workbook of sorts that shouldn't be missed, full of tips and inspiration for the garden, hearth, traditions and home. Take a glance at Amazon.
